Didn't have much time but I added a little color to my drawing prompt for today #koala. Would like to spend more time with this drawing and color it a bit better later.

Illustration Portfolio time
I've been hard at work trying to get some new artwork done! Been playing around with new techniques that I've learned about reading things online. Most of the stuff is 1 - 2 day play. I have been reading a lot too, getting ideas or just enjoying what I'm reading.
This week I did my first illustration friday drawing that I've done in a while.
You can find that here in my daily drawing blog:
http://draweachday.wordpress.com/2013/09/18/illustration-friday-918-totem/
Speaking of which, isn't really a daily drawing blog at this point. I've been kinda using it on-and-off again. The most important part is that I'm using it!
I have another work-in-progress with an illustration from "the fisherman's wife"
I'm testing creating textures on paper and then working with them digitally. I find I like to draw on paper and make a mess with paint more and then go online and 'fix' anything I have an issue with.

Busy art week at work!
Been busy at work creating lots of illustrations, web graphics, and logos. Don't think I can share the logo yet but here are some of the cool things I got to create:
Banner for facebook honoring our volunteers for National Volunteer Week!

And then the final cover, before putting in all the event info!

Drawing progress on doll
Tonight I got some more work done on the digital doll drawing. I went in with more color and finer detail around the color I'd already laid down. I really want to create something ornate and colorful.
Here's a little detail shot.

detail of work in progress
Now that I have a new Wacom tablet (that I got for Christmas) I started working on a design for my twitter - I think. I grew up with nesting dolls and wooden dolls growing up, and I think they influenced my idea of what a doll looks like. I have high hopes for where this illustration is going, though now I'm not sure if I want to put it as a twitter background. Either way, I'm planning on working on this illustration for a few days instead of just a quick sketch. This is a detail of what I hope will grown into a nice finished illustration.

Thoughts on the new year
Just a few new resolutions in the new year- and a plug for my daily drawing blog. To see my daily drawings checkout http://draweachday.wordpress.com
I'll occasionally post here, but we'll see how often it happens as I want to focus on a daily drawing blog. This blog will see more of my pages of quick sketches, longer artwork, and maybe pics from my art group projects!

Day 28 Drawing
I think I'm slowly figuring out what I actually like to draw. Still playing with techniques. Today for my draw each day blog I did a sketch of Edgar Allan Poe. My other blog, draweachday.com can be found at:

today's drawings
Sat down and painted for about 3 hours tonight. Maybe 4. Here's the three things I worked on - mostly testing how gouache works, and some watercolor techniques I watched in a youtube video I found a link for on twitter.

New cartoon illustration

I did this for a friend of a friend who teaches fitness based pole dancing. She's got a pack of kids and is in great shape. I had a lot of fun doing this illustration.
